Thank you for agreeing to meet me here at the local diner, friends. It would feel too strange catching up with you all over the phone.
Many years ago, I participated in a reading challenge to read books set around the world. It was so long ago, I can scarcely even remember who started it, and if I successfully completed it or not.
This year, I have this strong urge to travel. Though I long to go to places such as Scotland and Ireland, realistically I know I cannot travel anywhere right now.
So, I am going to cheat a bit.
New year, new blog, and today we’re going back to the basics.
Whether you’re a new blogger, a dabbler, or a seasoned pro, it is never to late too learn (or revisit) the three most important steps everyone should know about starting a blog.
How many times have used these phrases:
- This year I am going to…
- Next year I will….
- I’ll start it on the 1st….
Well, I got news for you, my friends: today is the 1st of a new month in a new year. So, go sit down, listen well, and then go forth and change your lives with me.
How have you been? How has 2017 treated you?
Me? It has been a hard road this past year, and sometimes I didn’t think things would work out well. But I am still here, and still fighting to get things back to normal.
Sometimes you must blur passed the bad and focus on the good to find the motivation you need to start a new year fresh.
I’ll let you in on a little secret, envy is my sin. I’ve always wanted to be that kid that who excelled at EVERYTHING, had EVERYTHING, and preened under the spotlight of her adoring fans. (Or, you know, just made her parents proud.)
Truth be told, it really bothers me when a stranger is better than me at some random thing I’ve never even tried before in my life. Logically, I know years of practice will beat out the odds of me suddenly becoming a prodigy on my first try. But I have this overwhelming need to be the best. Except, I bounce from craft to hobby to sport -well, no, never sports- so frequently that I’ve never excelled at any of them.
Welcome to my last bookstagram Q&A session pre-Rattled Dreams. I hope you have been enjoying the posts.
Already I learned quite a few new little tricks I am anxious to experiment with. And it’s always nice to get to know the photographer behind some of my favorite bookstagram photos.
Over the last two weeks we spent some time talking books and photos with Stacee from Adventures of a Book Junkie and Brittany from The Book Addict’s Guide (if you missed our chats, you should go check them out.)
My final guest is Crini from All About Books.
Get ready to be inspired.
Instagram has quickly become a favorite past time of mine.
Last time around, we spent some time talking about books and photos with Stacee from Adventures of a Book Junkie (if you missed our Instagram chat, you should go check it out) and I can’t tell you how inspired I’ve been since our talk.
Next up is Brittany from The Book Addicts Guide.
Get ready to be inspired.
Out of all the senses, Sight has always been the one I’ve connected with the most. I find it easier to remember something if I’ve seen it than by using any other sense. Sometimes I can even recall the rest of an old memory by simply imagining one frame of it; probably what makes me such a great daydreamer.
Artistically, I may not yet be able to pull the scene from my head and share with the world, but that doesn’t stop me from trying or looking for inspiration.
Back in the beginning of 2016, I invited several Bookstagramers – that’s Instagramers whose focus is books, if you are unfamiliar with the term – to guest post on my old blog Paper Bindings. Since Rattled Dreams is all about finding inspiration, there was no way I could let these three posts fade into cyberspace.
Hello friends, it is good to be able to talk with you like this again.
Some of you may know me from the book blogosphere where I ran two blogs: Once Upon A Dream Books and Paper Bindings. Others may know me from Twitter (@rattleddreams) or Instagram (@rattleddreams), the two social media platforms I frequent. Or perhaps you have just now stumbled upon Rattled Dreams, and decided to stick around long enough to read these words.
No matter how well or little we know each other, welcome to my virtual home.
